You chase the fearsome bird back to its nest in order to retrieve the AX it stole.You try summoning some DOUGHNUTS to appease its hurt feelings, but it won't have any! Diplomacy is simply out of the question, but there might be room for ingenuity yet, if you can just think of something...

Take the EGG, and toss if off the nest. Hopefully the BIRD will try to rescue it.
THROW DOUGHNUT AT EGG
( it would be awesome if there was an inventory list somewhere :-) )
Use MIRROR to direct sun into bird's eyes to distract it. Grab ax while it's blinded.
